  12.    I posted the following question on rec.games.video.classic and
  13. no one knew the answer, but someone suggested I try comp.sys.cbm,
  14. so here goes:

  16.    Recently the sound died on my C64.  I don't know what happened,
  17. but in the middle of playing a game, the sound just stopped.
  18.  
  19.    One unexpected side effect of this is that it seems to have
  20. affected randomizing somehow.  Specifically, in the game Space Taxi,
  21. some of the more challenging boards are now easy because "random"
  22. events (such as falling stars, snowflakes, winds, etc) don't occur.

  24.    Thanks to this, I've gotten to the 25th and final screen, the
  25. "Mystery Screen" for the first time in many years.  On this screen
  26. is written the following:

  28.      Eat the PIE until a "FIRE" glows, then
  29.      go UP until it stops, touch a STAR and
  30.      you'll see the hidden SECRET MENU!!!

  32.    I remember seeing this years ago, but never figuring out what
  33. it means.  If anyone knows what this is all about, *please* e-mail
  34. me and let me know.  It's been subconciously bugging me for years.

  36.    Also, if anyone knows why the loss of sound would affect game
  37. play the way it does, I'm curious about that too.  I seem to remember
  38. once reading something about how the randomizer gets its "seed" value
  39. from noise generated by the sound chip?
